About Us
Down River Pizza is a passion project brought to life by husband-and-wife duo Jackson and Diana. Nestled in the heart of Presidio, our pizzeria is all about great flavors, handcrafted dough, and a love for bringing people together over a perfect slice.
Jackson’s journey to pizza-making wasn’t a straight path—he earned a degree in Construction Management from UTEP but always felt the pull of the kitchen. He honed his craft at EPCC’s Culinary Arts program before jumping into the fast-paced world of professional kitchens, gaining hands-on experience in bakeries and pizzerias. Now, he’s bringing his expertise to Down River Pizza, where every pie is made with skill, passion, and a whole lot of heart.
What's in a name?
The name “Down River Pizza” is a nod to a beloved local phrase. In Presidio, locals say they’re “going down river” when heading to Big Bend, Lajitas, or Terlingua. For Diana, this phrase holds deep personal meaning—her family is from Presidio, and she’s been coming here her whole life. Some of her fondest memories are of summers spent with her grandparents, Lety and Toby, when the whole family would gather and head down river for adventures, food, and time together.
At Down River Pizza, we want to capture that same sense of warmth, tradition, and community—bringing people together over simple, delicious food made with care.
